A torrectiotn
MR. EDTOR: Please allovW me space
in your paper to correct a false rumor.
It is being circulated in different parts
of Newberry County, that I introdu'ed
a bill in the legisla, ure fixing fees,
miltage, ctc., of physiciants. The in
genious fellow who oririnated this
story fixes the ftie in this imaginary
bill at $2 per vi-it and 10 cents mile
age. HO goes further and giVes the
doctor a lien upon tall the property of
the patient, even his wearing apparel.
There is no truth whatever in this re
port. I have lever even thought of
such a project. I did not introduce a
bill as to doctors' fees or giving a doe
tor a lion of any. kind. I did intro
duce a bill to p)rovide for inspection of
foods, medicines, spirIt,uous and malt~
liquors. My object was to priotect the
p)eople from fraud aud imp)osit, ion as to
foods, medicines, spirlt,uous and malt
liqJuors.
Any one w inhinug to verify my state
ment, cani ask Senator Mower or Reore
sen tativYes Banks andc K Ih ler as I am
sure these gentlemen wIll tell the
Y'ours truly,
C. T. WYciux.

not infallible. TIle penitentiary has

but, sonietliig else to substatntiate it.. I
regret that titne will ne' permit a full

friends tell you what . prhibition has
done in Maine 011y, why do they not
tell you what it did in Kansas, where it
proved an absolute failure. It is asserted
that I have not enforced the dispensary
law. You know what obstacles I had to
contend with J t(lge Sinmonton openeld
