sons given for the non-appearance of
the message by Senator Davis in ex
eentive session is that General Lee
wants further time to get Americans
out of Havana.
Senators Davis, Lodge and Frye,
represent ing the committee on foreign
relations, went to the White HouEe a
few moments ago to inquire why the
message was delayed. The Presi
dent informed the committee tht,
General Lee asked for further time
and suggested the withholding of the
message until Americans in Havana
could be safelv removed.

statement in executive session it

and an outbreak was imminent
Senator Chandler asked if the
Senator from Minnesota (Davis) was
