There is somew ha of a stir up again

Wicker oil appliention, and Bro. J. UJ.
Norris, of Johnston Alliaice, by demit.
Our iiext, meeting will be on the 19th
instant at 2 o'clock sharp. The alliance
is to-da y stronger than ever. Tlne only

if they had not left they would have
been dismissed. Hurrah for the Alli

We see that the prohibition bill has
passed the House and hope it wil I get
through the Senate with but few
amendmemts. \Ve say for tile repre
sentative front Newberry who voted
against prohibition, that his political
career is ended, so far as the Christian
voters are concerned. We once thought
he had a bright political future, but all
has been blasted by that one vote. We
don't think lie need offer his services
any more for they will not be wanted
by the party of good government.
We Tillman boys offer our thanks to
the legislators who stood by that noble
reformer, Gen. Y. J. Pope, and elected
him Associate Justlce of the Supreme
Court.
We perceive that the Newberry Ob

Conference covenned at St. Pauls
church, Friday before the last fifth
Sabbath. IRev. M. J. Epting preached
the opening serion. He spoke of
Absolm's erecting a pillar so that his
namue night not be forgotten and re
minded each of us that every day of our
lives we were erecting a pillar In the
memory of those who know us, which
will endure for our eternal honor or dis
honor. He entreated each one of us
to establish a piliar with a firm founda
tion, and out of ever lasting materials
one with which our heavenly Father
will be pleased when we appear before
Him at the last (lay. Saturday morn
ing Rev. T. 0. Kelster preached a good
missionary sermon. We all need more
such sermous to remind us of our duty
to those "who never heard the name of
a Saviour." Important subjects were
discussed by the conference both Fri
day and Saturday. Sabbath, which
was looked forward to with so many
pleasant anticipations, was a very (11
agreeable day on account of the rain
and snow, and no services were held.
