Mails for Newberry, Prosperity and Pomaria are forwarded by Augusta Ga., Greenwood, and Laurens. Freights to these points may be shipped over the same route as far down as Al ton. O'Neal Holloway. of Po maria paid us a short visit this tmoriiinng. Mr. Henry Kinard got "ditched' in Columbia, and has not been able to re turn. As our supplement had to shipped by way of Augusta, it will be late in arriv ing this week. The depot was deserted last week. It looked as thongh the strikers had struck our city. The musical club had quite a pleasant entertainment at Col. Y. J. Pope's residence last night. There was a rush of mails on the out side as well as the inside of the post otti'e on last Tuesday. Rev. Dr. Hawkins passed through the city to-day on his way to Virginia, to be absent about a month. Some of the boys have already male engagements for conmencement ball, which will be a big affair. Prof. Voigt will occupy the Lutheran pulpit next Sunday at 11 a. m. Thtre wid be no evening service. Brazzlemon's bridge across the E:ioree river, which cost the county $1,0) was washed away last Thursday. The Greenville and Laurens Railroad will reach the depot at Greenville on the old Irwi.1 place by cutting across lots.
