Lee, grandson of General Robert E. 'Lice, commander-in-chlef of the Confederate armies, died this morning at Virginia college, follow Ing an illness of many nliths. lie was 53 years old. Colonel Lee became ill last March and .went to -Hot Springs to regain.his health. le lingered 'between life and -death for. days and (lays, and then P44 licd sufficiently to be brought to Roa noke on; a private car. -Since June lie and Irs. Lee have been visiting at Virginia college. lit one time his re covery seemed probable, but due to the condition of his heart, little hope was entertained during the past month.
