Suliphur 'Springs, March 13.-We are
Ihaving considerable rain and the
farmera are somewhat ibehind vilth
preparations for their orops.
There seems quite an opidemic of
lagril)pe or flu in our midst. Most
'every one seems to have been attacked.
Among the more serious are Mr. and
'Mrs. John 1C. Smith, Misses Ruth and
Tay Hill, Mr. and 'Mrs. John H. Whar.
,ton, Jr., and numerous others not so
)serious. Our efficient physician, Dr,
J. L. Fennell, 'has been kept quite busy
-and all are much 'better.
Messrs. Sam and Preston Williams

ter Saxon, of -Hickory Tavern, is no
better, but we hope for his speedy re
covery. -
We are also very sorry to learn of
the accident of Mr. :Preston Smith, of
Waterloo. He was very seriously hurt
when his car overturned with him.
His collar bone nwas -broken in three
places, requiring him to go to the hos
vital for treatment.

The Mt.,Pleasant high school is look
ing forward to an entertainment at
the school house on the thirty-first of

to hear of the recent death of Mrs. W.
J. McGee of Columbia. She spent the
most of her life in this ;ection and
was held in the highest astecm by
all of her acquaindUCtes. We never
had a better friend and sympathize
most tenderly with the sorely bercav
ed family.
Mr. M. B. AlcCuen, of 'Williamston,
recently visited his son, George. His
friends iwill be j)leased to hear that his
health has greatly Improved.
We were very sorry to hear of the
tragic death of Mr. Meadors \William
son. He was the son of the lamented
John Williamson, who was born and
reared here. We never had a better
friend than John Williamson and our
