Tlie deceased was born Iin Cross lill, this -county, and moved to Florida in i 1913, where lie had resided until the tiie of his death. The Red Cross oflice at lu rens believes that all the soldiers o the county ought to have these paper (dplicated in some form whether it b in the Clerk of Court's ollice or In th Red Cross oflice. There are thre reasons for this belief: lirst, hecause of the fact that sue will cost little time and effort and n money. The Red Cross ofilce at Lau rens will be glad to make copies of al diseharge 1papers if the ex-soldiers wil only bring then here. Not only thal but the Clerk of Court has offered t record all papers free of charge. U to the present time less than a hutn dred out of possibly sixteen hun11(dre have taken advantage of this oppor tulity. 'In tite next place, there is a possi bili ty of a bonus being given .e(-sol diers. If this be so, it is extreiel necessary that these discharge paper he so that the paper itself can be founi or a copy from a reliable source. N doubt for the next several decades th matter of aiditng these ex-soldiers i1 some form or other will be before tht people. And if these ex-soldiers ar aided, the having of the discharge pa pers will save the time of getting via riouts affidavits from different section of the country. in tihe last place, if no materia gain is to be had, in the way of pen slon, compensation, etc., because c having these discharge papers, yet from a statdpoint other than materia these papers ought to be kept or rc corded. iFuture generations will h interested in these 'papers and fo what they represent.
