Methodists Adopt Resolution That Bible Be Read in Public Schools. Lancastei, Nov. .-Almost every pulpit in Lancaster and h few in the country were occupied by members ol the Upper South Carolina conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, at both services today.* Ap pointments were also announced, Bishop U. V. W. Darlington preached at the morning hour at the First Methodist church. He was heard by a congregation that taxed the capacity of the church, and many who desired to hear him could not gain admittance, even the aisles being crowded. The life and ministry of the Prophet Elishr was the theme of Bishop Darlington's sermon. He likened Elisha to a great circuit preacher and emphasized the fact of the one aim of the Prophet, which was to serve God wl. ,ver, and in whatever way, God directed. He said that the unselfish and willing purpose of Elisha had much to dc with the great success which he ac complislied as a Prophet of God. The first service of the day held in this church was the conference love feast, which began at 9:30 a. in., and con tinued until the hour for the sermon, This service ivas in charge of the Rev. M. M. Brabham. This afternoon, a memorial service for two deceased members of the con. ference was held, the Rev. Mariar1 Dargan and the Rev. J. N. Isom, both of whom have passed away since the session of the conference a year ago, Memories of both were read and trib utes to the life and work of each were paid verbally by many who were present at the service. Conference came to a close tonight with a permon by Dr. A. M. Traywick. A resolution by B. R. Turnipseed that the Holy Bible be read in the public schools was adopted. Dr. M. L. Carlisle introduced the following resolution which was adopt ed by a rising vote: "Knowing the utter impossibility of adequately expressing what is in our hearts, we yet wish to express to the city and citizens of Lancaster our deep appreciation of them and their hospitality during the session of this conference. "Therefore, resolv.ed, that we pray for the peace and the blessing of God 'That maketh rich and addeth no sor row therewith.' They have fed us with earthly food; may the Lord give thein the bread of life. They have taken us. into their homes; may the Lord- receive- them- into the everlast ing habitations. They have crowned us with their kindness and regard; may they receive the crown of life which the Lord shall give." The appointments follow: Anderson Diptrict: A. E. Holler, P.
