NOTICE
OF THE COUNTY TREASURER
The book1lof the County 'T'reasurei
wii be open for tau collection of
State, County and Commutation Road
Taxes for the fiscal year, 1920, at the
Treasurer's ollice from October 1.5th to
December 31st, 1920. After December
31 one per cent will be added. After
January 31st, two per cent will be
added, and after Feb. 28th, seven per
cent will he added until the lith day
of March, 1 .e1, when the books 'niii
be closed.
All persons owning property in
more than one township are requested
to call for receipts in each of the
several townships in which the pro,
erty is located. This is important, as
additional cost and penalty may be at
tached.
All able-bodied male citie'.ns be
tween the ages of twenty one (21) and
sixty (6(0) years of age are liable to
pay a poll tax of $1.00, except old sol
diers, who are exempt at fifty (50)
years of age. Commutation Road Tax
$6.00 In lieu of road duty. All able
bodied men between the ages of 21
and 55 are liable to Road duty except
theso in Military Service, School
Trustees, School Teachers, Ministers,
and Students.

Raleigh, Nov. 29.-The bwo Conway
hank burglars were lodged in Wake
county jail yesterday afternoon by
Sheriff I1. L. Joyner, of Northampton
county, for safe keeping. Jailer Jor
dan recognized them immediately on
their arrival as James 'P. Lister and
Thomas A. Conway, who were in his
custody during the latter part of 191.1
and early portion of 1915 awaiting
trial in Federal court for burglary of
the postoflice at Slier City, Chatham
county. In the summer of 1914, near
Walnut Cove, Sokes county, they were
captured by railroad section men and
placed in jail at Danbury. They were
soon transferred to the Guilford coun
ty Jail for safe keeping and remained
in that jail until removal to Raleigh.
During the night of November 22,
they blew open the safe in the bank
at Conway. Northampton county, and
carried &-'T .$5,000 in mony and liber
ty bonds. They were emuptured the fol
lowing a'': noon by a posse of local
citizens, about 12 miles from the scene
of their burglary, as a result of in
formation supplied by a negro man
,':ho had seen them while hunting. The
taller one gave his name to Sheriff
Joyner as Edward f loward and the
other as Charley Cross. On their pre
lIminary hearing ball was fixed in the
sun of $50,000 on the main charge
and $25,000 each additional on two
other charges.
