forced their way into the building dur

When the piano and organ that ac
companied the chorus broke into the
strains of the British anthem, shouts
arose in various parts of the hail.
The instruments continued, however,
and part of the chorus and audience
started singing the words of "Amer
ica." At the same time many of the
chorus left the stage.
When the music stopped, Samuel
Giompers, president of the American
Federation of 4fabor, tried to speak,

roar and, he gave up the attempt.
The meeting was then called off. Im
