Mr. Moseley is the second man to
win w Rhodes scholarship within a
year's time, ' Mr. Frank P. Moowan,
Jr., having won a similar scholarship
there aboti-t this time last year and is
now taking the course. Another
South -Carolinian, Mr. J. E. Norwood,
of Greenville, wa selected as a scholar
at the same time as 'Mr. Moseley.
The sefections wore made by com
mittees chosen from 500 former
Rhodes scholars now living in this
country. About 400 men were candi
dates for the 64 appointments, the
compietition being this year' larger
than ever before. The Increased In
terest in the scholarvips in this coun
try is paralleled by the favorable ar
iie.ifgements now in force for their re
ception in Oxford. Resolutions re
ceitl i.assed by the university admit
the men to junior or senior standing
with much legs dIMiculty than in the
11ast, while the new degree of Phd. has
been established largely to meet the
