Alma, Ga., July 11.-AVhile locking
bis place of business here at 10 o'clock
last night, Judge C. J. Medders was
shot in the back aid instantly killed.
-Judge Medders was fired upon
from an automobile, a shot-gun being
used. 'Nine buckshot entered his head
and neck.

traced the automobile to the home of
Dr.'John 'Dedge. The sheriff hab taken
Floyd (Dedge Into custody In connec
tion- with 'the shooting.
Friends of Judge "Medders %ay .that
he was warned early Saturday that
he iwould be killed.
D. Sanford, who is employed at the
plantation of 'Dr. 'Dedge, was arrested
by Sheriff J. AV. Googc at 10 o'clock
tonight In connection with the kill
Ing of Judge -Medders. The sheriff
stated that he had a warrant for Dr.
'Dedge but could not locate him.
Jtidge Medders was a justice of the
peace of 'Bacon County for many
years. lie was 62 years of age.
