ADJOUINED ON liil
-'i'entative Agreement on Fiuni Ad
journment Saturday Reached by lie
publicans. Many Members of Hoth
flouses Faivor Recess.
Washington, May 31.--dlepubllican
loaders of the house and senate to
day agreed tentatively on a final ad
journment of congress Saturday.
Many members of both the senate
and house, however, have Indicated
that they prefer a recess for the po
litical conventions and this may cause
a change in the plans as tentatively
agreed on.
The agreement reached by leaders
today contemplated the calling up by
Representative Mondell, of Wyoming,
Republican leader, In the house to
morrow of his resolution proposing
final adjournment at 4 1). in. Saturday.
Final decision as between a recess
or an adjournment it was said, mignt
hang fIre until the last moment. In a
conference with the senate leaders to
day, however, Iepresentative .Monde!
is understood to have been advised to
go ahead with his adjournment resolu
tion under the assumption that it
probably would be founId satisfactory
to the senate majority.
Only the Armenian mandate resolu
tion and conference reports are on the
list of important measures slated for
passage before congress gIllts and it Is
lIikely that after the senate has vote:]
on Armenia tomorrow it will spendl
its time on various bills of a minor o
special character wilie the house n(if
siders the Armenian resolution. Tbhi;
process can be hastened at the will
of holse leaders Iiulder the tisupension
of rules plan limiting del)ate and
amendments, adopited last week.
In order to speed up its procedulre,
tlhe senate today agreed to beg in its
session tomorrow at ten o'clock, two
hiour s earlier than the usual meeting

were told to hasten t heir work in or
