The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Yancey S. Gilkerson -will be sorry to learn that they are to leave Laurens for Greenville, where Nir. Gilkerson will be associated twith his father-in law, fi. R. L. R. Bentz, in the carpet and rug business. Alr. Chas. Thompson, Treasurer of the South Carolina Oratorical Associa tion, spent Sunday in the city with his parents, Mr. and .ilrs. R. E. Thompson, having just attended a meeting of the executive committee of the associa tiin in Greenwood. Mr. Thompson will - not entor the state contest this year, but will enter the triangular debate between the University of South Caro lina, University of Florida and Uni versity of Tennessec. The married ladies sunprised the audience by their operatic skill. A I small admission fee of 10 and 20 cents I was charged. , I Immediately after the play a num ber of boxes were sold which brought I a neat sum, The object of the play (nd box supper was to finish paying for the Este organ which has recent ly been purchased. The total amount of $63 was raised and the church as a whole feels very grateful to the par- 1 ticipants of the play as well as to the contributors of the boxes for lifting the debt on the organ.
