Washington, Oct. 17.-Falling after
an all day conference to avert a strike
of nearly half a million 'bituminous
coal miners, called for the very eve of
winter, Secretary of Labor 'Wilson to
night invited miners and operators to
senid their full scale committee to

other effort to bring about peace in
