TURNER'S PARTNER w
Negro Who Blonsted of Having Part e
in Shooting in Greenville, Killed in j:
Anderson. p
Anderson, Oct. 1I.-Iled Frazier, a t
negro, who, it is said, boasted of be- 1
ing a partner of Joe Titrner, and that
lie played a part in the Greenville ept
sode last Sunday morning when two t
policemen were killed, was shot and
killed :by two white men, J. S. McMinn
and Robert Cawley, in the Anderson
mill village this morning at 8 o'cock.
The men came to the police station af
ter the shooting and gave up to Chief
Saminions, iwho notified Sheriff San
ders, and the latter placed them in
the county jail.
Frazier's body showed fiVe bullet
wounds and his head one. A white
man turned over to Sheriff Sanders
two pistols, ong of .32 calibre and the
other of .38, which lie said UidNilin
and Corley had given him. The .38
had three ellpty chambers and the .32
had four.
Frazier was one of a gang of ne
groes which is 'heing mllhoyIed by the
Fiske-Carter Construction company of
(Greenville in painting houses at, the
Anderson mill. lie appeared early
Friday morning and asked for workc.
During the afternoon lie is said to
-have given some trouble and that he
made boasts about having killed four
men. This morning the two white
men nwent. into the house where lie
was at 'work and called his attention
to the poor class of painting he twas
doing and told him to go over it. It
is said that he began cursing them and
put his hands in his overalls. The
men claim that they had heard him
say lie had a pistol and that upon
seeing him make this move, they fired.
The shooting occurred in the room
where the negro was at work. A .32
calibre U. S. special was found upl)on
1him. It is said that his home is about
(I four miles north of Anderson.
