CHANGING RAPIDLY
Clemson CoIlege Stations Expert In
Columbia.
Because of the rapid advances of
the boll weevil and the great'activity
in the shipment of cotton seed and

says Prof. A. F. Conradl of the crop
Pest commission, to change the boll
weevil line freluently and to have
fiuarantine information qluickly avail
ahlo for the people. Consequently the
commission hasg decided to station a
weevil specialist in Coluimbia for the
re. t of the season. 'This will be a
great convcnience t(4 shippers, trans
por tation agents and ihe publ- ge
orally.
'I'he weevil specialist to IDe sent to
Columbia is .1. A. Ierly, who will have
lealquIarters at the live stock sani

National bank building. Ile will be
prepared to issue informat lonl with
despatch anel to grant necessary per

The act:ve illgration of the holl
weevil will cnd with the ilrst killing
tros, ehih niy oceur at. any tinie
bet ween !le mnidc'ie of October and the
middle of Nwcmber. When such a
frot occurs, the weevil will go into
winter (luarters and become station
ary. and at that time1 the boll weevil
liIr. will become stationary. The
'fotv Zon1e will then 'le llove(d down
as omch as is safe, and the quarantine
lin %ill be removed entirely until
lext .q'i-ing when the 'weevil hec"ennes
