Colored Physician Dies at Hospitil lin
Clinton After Being Taken From
Train.
iOr. J. A. Maxwell, the well known
colored physician of this city, died at
tihe hospital it Clinton yesterday
morning following an operation for
appendlicitis. 1Ie started to Columbia
on the Fou'th to have an operation,
buit his condition became so alarimt
ing that lie was taken off at Clinton
and there. underwent ainit operation. It
was apparent that he had walted too
long and by Monday all hopes were
given up.
Dr. Nlaxwell had been In Laurens
for about t(enl years. lie vas a wvell
posted as well as conscientiolts phy
