Lanford, April 21.-Sunday morning
was a beautiful Easter morning. All
nature seemed fresh and rejoicing in
the balmy, bracy weather.
Rev. Mr. Haddock of Laurens filled
Rev. R. J. Williams appointment Sun
day afternoon. A large crowd was out
to hear Bro. Williams and were dis
appointed in not seeing him, though
they were glad to see Bro. Haddock
and enjoyed his sermon very much.
The school had their regular annu
al Easter egg hunt Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Cox and Mrs. Bomar
hid them so well they had to make a
second search to find them all.
Mr. and Mrs. J. 1. Cunningham, of
Laurens, were guests of Mr. R. J. Pat
terson and Mrs. Mills who can boast
on having fresh ripe strawberries and
English peas for Easter dinner.
Miss Annie Lou Payne, of Green
(wood, visited 'Miss Othello Johnson
this 'week-end.
Messrs. Yates and Charles Waldrep,
of Wofford College, went to Greenwood
to attend the contest and stopped here
on their return to see their parents,
Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Waldrep.
Mr. J. W. 9ohnson and Mr. James
Patterson went to Grecgnwood Friday
to see the ball game between Furman
nnd Wofford. We could not help but
give three cheers for dear old Furman
when we heard that it won the first
'place in the State Oratorical contest.
The Rural Improvement association
will meet at the schoolhouse Friday
afternon and we would like for all to
be present as we are in the race again
for twelve regular meetings during the
year.
Woman's Missionary society will
meet in the flaptist church Saturday

the Central school, has been selected
by the home demonstrator as one of
the five girls in the county to take
training this summer at Winthrop in
the canning department and domestic

Lieut. James !Drummond, of Camp
Jackson received his discharge from
the service last 'week and will go in
business at Laurens for the balance
of the year, and it is supposed he will
resume his profession of teaching for
next session.
Mr. H4. M. Johnson has returned
home after a very 'pleasant visit to
Hendersonville, N. C., with his daugh
ters, Mrs. Byers and Mrs. Randall.
Mr. C. L. Waldrep and family, Mrs.
C. D. Cox and family spent Easter
with their father.

Mr. J. R. Franks and family.
