soon to 'be held in France, to settle
the multitudinous questions arising out

Today it became known here that
the South Carolina senator had been
seriously considered at the conference

for the purpose of attending the con

interests of the United States.
When the matter of having the cot

there was entire unanimity on the part
of the Southern governors, it is under

this industry means to the people of

FEWI ESCAPE.
There are few indeed who escape
having at least one cold during the
winter months, nd they are fortunate
who have but one and get through
with it quickly and without any ner
ous consequences. Take Chamber
berlain's Cough Remedy and observe
the directions with each bottle, and
you are likely to be one of the fortu
nate ones. The worth and merit of
this remedy has been fully proven.
There are many afmilies who have al
ways used it for years when troubled
with a cough or cold, and with the
very best results.
A wsod Business Man.
A commercial traveler had taken a
large order in Scotland for a consign.

press upon the canny Scottish man

Christmas gift of a box of IIavana ci

"Naw," ho replied. "Don't try to
bribe a man. I cudna tak the.a and
I am a member of the kirk."
"But will you not accept them as a
Christmas present?"
"I cudna," saidl the Scot.
"Well, then," said the traveler, "uap-.
pose I sell you the cigars for a merely
nominal sum--say, sixpenceI"
"Weel, in that case," replied the
Scot, "since you press me. and, not
liking to refuse an offer weel meant,
I think I'll be taking two boxes."
