met hIs death in action on Sept. 30th.
An appropriate program of music and
prayer was carried out and the follow
ing tribute to his memory was read
by -Mr. W. h. (ray, chairman of the

'hle subject of this memorial, Lieut.
Thos. D. Lake, Jr., was born at Lau
rens, S. C., January 19th, 1895. When
old enough he entered the Laurens
gradied school. Having completed the
ninth grade, he entered the Citadel
and after finishing successfully the
lresiman class there, he entered the
Sko~phoilore class at Wofford College,
front which Institution he graduated in
.1une 191 I. After graduation he be

busiless at laurens, S. C. On .May the
15th he entered the Training Depart

he received a conmilissiot in the sev
vice of the l'nited Stales Army as
