Jones, Oct. 25.-Mr. Webb) Elledge
succumbed to an attack of influenza,
complicated wilh pneumonIa, yester
day and was laid to rest at Union
church in the presence of a large as
semblage of sorrowing relatives and
friends. Mr. Elledge was a high
toned gentleman and was held in the
highest esleein by all of his acquaint
ances. lie was one of our warmest
friends and our sympathy goes out to
isi.,; widow, aged parents, and entire
family In thir overwhelinigly sorc
bereavement.
Infilten'za is still spreading rapidly
and we are having a considerable
number of iicpnumonia cases. This Is
a very malignant epidemic, with a
large per cent of death and the stif
fering and distress throughout the
world is pitiable In the extreme. Cod
grant that there may soon come al
end of the horrible scourge.
The writer was kindly solicited re
cenly by his good friend, the mayor
of [ons- Path, to lend them a helping
land and greatly regretted hi. inabil
ity to do so as he Wats overwhelming
ly bus w0ith his own work. Our sym

that their condition has so greaty im
