rooms were fragrant with a profusion
of pink roses, sweet peas, and carna

door by Mr's. Switger and Miss Ilud
en,!is and thOn a refresling punch was
served by lisses Roberta Dorroh and
Clara Switzer. After playing several
rounds of the game, strawberry Ice
cream and cake were served. Miss

eventful trip across, and it seemed
that uore sailors than soldiers were
slMk the flirst three days. We had more
eats than we could make away with.
When we struck the shore we were
glad to spy c mother earth and I
don't think that a single soldier on
hoard would swap his place with a
sailor. I happened to be on the un
loading detail and 'glt here In this
French seaport I saw my flrst wooden
shoes, uIt since then I have seen many
a pair. The boys on the unloading
detail were permitted to go out that
night and wander over the city. Cafes
were Iice grocery stores everywhere.
When we went on board the ship that
night we gave our names to one of the
ship's ofilcer., and went down to our
department. All the boys were around
us wit it eager eyes a1.d open months.
