es Sunday and before tne council
Monday night, the council must feel
itself bound to rid the town of this
iniquitous business, but no doubt, with
the support of the citizens behind
them they would have disposed of it
anyway. There is no reason for say
ing that any nuisance may not be dis
posed of or abated under the law, for
telinicalitles of the law never can
and never will stand in the way of an
aroused public sentiment. The coun
cli may or may *not be able to close
u1p the pool rooms immediately, but
it ean throw such restrictions around
them as will make them as harmless
ns any other business in the city. If
that is done. we need not fear the con
