the service at. Fort Scrivens, Ga., spent

joined the aviation corps and is now
at Fort Oglothorpe, Ga.

accompanied home by her aunt, Misp
Cora 'Medlock, who has also been on a
visit in'Atlanta since October.
'Miss Pearl E. '1edlock, a native of
this county and graduate of Wesley
Memorial Hospital. of Atleanta, is now
with the base hospital at Camp Sevier,
Glreenville. She has given her services
to the Ied 'Croso' vork and expects to
nurse the. boy' wherever needed.

Prof. H. T.*Wilson, of Cray Court
Owings school, was a visitor in the
city Monday. Prof. Wilson stated that
on account of inability to secure coal
his school had temporarily closed
lown, but that he hoped to ibe able to
open again early in January.
Rev. C. W. Mclelroy, of Appouat
tox, Va., was the guest of Rev. and
Mrs. S. I. Templeman several days
last week. Rev. McElroy was a col-'
lege-mate of Rev. Templeman at Rich
mond College and is now pastor of 'a
large and influential church at Appo
mattox.

Spartanburg the latter part of last
week to visit his son, 'Henry, who is

At the Service League headquarters
on Friday afternoon the ladies of the
Episcopal Church had a sale of fancy
goods. On Monday afternoon another
sale was held in the same place, this
time it was the members of the Davies
Missionary society of the Methodist
church. These ladies had only Japan
ese novelties for sale. fBoth affairs
were a big success and quite a large
sum of money was realized.

noon by Mrs. Frank Caine. ' After

erary Club gave a rummage sale on
Saturday in the vacant. store-room
