Miss Litcretia 'rrimmier, of Spartan burg, is visiting Dr. and .\lrs. T. L. Timmerman. Miss Elizabeth Wham, of Lander col lege, is spending the holidays with her parents, lair. and Mrs. John .Wham. Miss Ilarrictt Simpson is *expected home Friday from New lirookland, where she is teaching this year. Miss Eloise Zimmerman spent the week-end with relatives in Spartan burg, Mrs. J. Moore Mars, of Abbeville, is isiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. 'l. 1I. Wilkes. Miss Padgett, of Minter Company, will leave tomorrow for her home in Fayetteville, N. C. HI. Dial. On account of the shortage of coal, Lander's holl (lay season .was lengthened this year by several weeks. Prof. H. T.*Wilson, of Cray Court Owings school, was a visitor in the city Monday. Prof. Wilson stated that on account of inability to secure coal his school had temporarily closed lown, but that he hoped to ibe able to open again early in January. Rev. C. W. Mclelroy, of Appouat tox, Va., was the guest of Rev. and Mrs. S. I. Templeman several days last week. Rev. McElroy was a col-' lege-mate of Rev. Templeman at Rich mond College and is now pastor of 'a large and influential church at Appo mattox. '\r. John -A. Franks went up to Spartanburg the latter part of last week to visit his son, 'Henry, who is In the quartermaster's corps theie and to assure himself of his comfort dur ing the severe weather.
