WAIVED EIXEMPTION
Mr. Lew E. llatton, of Clinaton, Ready
to Make Sacrfilee for His Country.
Letter from Mellonald.
Mr. Iew P1. Hatton, a young farm
er of Clinton, has waived all claims
for exemption from army service and
has potriotically made a sacrifice to
go to the front, in reply to his for
mal request that no claims for ex
emptilon be flied, Mr. J. E. McDonald,
chairman of the Western District
Board, has written a letter of appre
ciation of his unselfish act.
Mr. Hatton's letter, dated Aug.
30th, Clinton 11. F. ). No. 2, is as fol
lows:
Dear Sirs:
.I understand that my friends here
filed claims before your Board for
m.f exemption from services In the
army. I appreciate very much their
efforts in my behalf, but I know that
I have been fairly and impartially
drawn for service, therefore, I think
it my patriotic duty to go and render
to my government and my country
the very best services that I am cap
able of rendering.
I know that it will be a sacrifice
on my part to leave my farm at this
season of the ycar, but I fully realize

that in order for this war to be

has got to make sacrifice, and I think
it as much my duty as any one else;
furthermore, I do not think it would
be right for me1 to remain at home
and thereby cause some one else to
do my flghting for me. I, therefore,
waive all claims before your honor
able board for lily exemption.
Yours very respectfully,
Low 1H. Hatton.
lr. MoDonald's lotter underl date
of Sept. 10th follows:
My .Dear Mr. .Hatton:
In denying the strong and unsoll
cited claims for your exemption and
discharge from military service pre

to the district board for the western
