comnplish that end. The first duty of
the railroads will he to use their r'oli
ing stock in handing war supplies.
They may not be abie to transport
corn and flour to this section even if
the West has it to spare and we have
the money to buy. It Is essential then
that we first raise supplies sufficient
to meet outr own needs and then have
a surplus for shipment. We can raIse
our garden products for home use and
for canning. We can raise heavier
farln products, such as corn and ,meat
ifor horme use and for shipment. We
haven't the foundation: on which to
-build a large meat industry' in one
year,.but we have aomnie acreage and
a le finance to grow corn in large
