BEditor The Advertiser: The Greenville News, one of the fair est dailies in the State had an editorial headed with an old Roman adage "Audi Alteram Postom" which being translated means "lear the other .side". Are you willing to hear the other side? Now Mir. Editor, I want to say a few words about the bond is sue that is soon to be voted on by the people of this county. I am opposed to them, and will .ry to give some reasons for my opposition. First, ou1r taxes are high enough now to be in some instances burdensome. They have been increasing for the last sev eral years. In the last 25 years taxa tion has increased nearly 100 per cent and property valuation only 50 or 60 per cent. Let's see what some of our townshillps are paying. Sullivan pays about 32 in some jelool dilstricts; Laturens 293-1; I ost of the others I I 3-1 to 27 mills. ]lilt. you say they are getlg something for it. Look at tle Schools and the school houses. I admit all that and would be the last luau to say anything against e(ln lion of onur youth, if I thought we were getIing vealue received for our money. Too much m1oney sent in useless of ilves and too high salaries. All or the salaties of ou1r oillecia are too high. 1)id any man now in oflice illike ove' $50.00 .or $.00 per monlii bcfore get tlug the o c? Now the y are getting fioI $125.00 to $210.00 per montl. Mlost cf our11 (hools ar now talight by "dear little girls and iloys" as .tlde Prince once said. just otl of high school or college 11(and don't know n4o m1ore ab)til Inallaginhg childreti than, thanl, I don't nov what, do you? Another objection is that it. is not enlollgh iloniey to do any good, only on 1Che automobile hiighways. Mlost, of the drivers of auloohliiles are in far :r of bonds. O courso tiey are. Just like lhcy now 11Want all the road when tey are out joy- riding. They have becoit1 so re ckless in their driving and detiant of 01her people's rights and 'livilveges ald w nt everyone to give h1 lhe r'ight of way.
