ident Wilson's life was threatened by
an anarchistic organization known as
the llasters" of which Thomas .1.

perior court in his opening address
to the jury.
"1 will prove," said Cunha, "that
these men plotted revolution against
the government. I will prove that
they said in an edition of The Bilast:

Reginning his address in court
Cunha outlined the history of the
bxomb explosion here last July in

MIanning, of Sumter, wa stoday In
augurated as governor of South Caro
lina for the second term. lie is 57
years old. Andrew J. Bethea of Co
lumbia was inaugurated lieutenant
governor for (he second time.. All
other state olicers were inducted into
olice.
The inaugural ceremonies were held
in the hall of the house of represen
tatives, beginning at noon before the
joint assembly and a large number of
spectators.
The oath of office was administered
by Eugene 13. Gary, of Abbeville,
chief justice of the supreme court of
South Carolina.
W. Banks Dove, succeeding I. M.
McCown as secretary of State, and
James Cansler of Tirzah in York
county, suceeding G. McD. Hampton
as a member of the railroad com
nisslo, are the next state officials.'
Other State officials sworn in today
were Carlton W. Sawyer, comptroller
general; S. T. Carter, State treasurer;
W. W. Moore, adjutant general;
Thos. H. Peoples, attorney general;
.J. E. Swearingen, State superintend
ent of education; E. .1. Watson, com
missioner of agriculture.
All of the officials were elected in
the last general election and have re
ceived their commissions from the
secretary of State.
.\ir. Dove, the new secretary of
State, was for many years assistant to
Rt. M. McCown, secretary of State.
The inaugural procession was form
ed at the governor's ottice on the first
lloor of the State house. The cere
monies were opened with prayer by
the Rev. Kirkman C. Finlay. rector of
Trinity church, Columbia.
After Gov. Manning had 'taken the
oath of office he delivered his inau
gural address.
