This popular couple has had a nui ber of their friends guessing for a long time and setting for them a wed. ding date. It came, however, as a sur prise to everyone. Miss Brown is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. R. W. Brown and is one of Cross dlill's most beautiful and charm ing young women. Mr. Epting is a young mean of un usual ability. Next came the little ring bearer, Lucile Poole, a cousin of the bride, followed by Miss Grace Poole, a sister, who was made of honor. I im mediately following them came the bride with her brother, Furman Poole, who gave her away. The mar riage ceremony of the Episcopal church was used. The bride wore a suit of green broadcloth with accessories to match and carried a bouquet of bride roses, orchids and valley lillies. The maid of honor was gowned in a frock of white messaline with silver trimmings and carried a bouquet of pink roses. The bridesmaids wore dainty blue frocks and carried bouquets of pink carnations. The bride is a charming young woman and is a graduate of Lander college. During the past year she has been teaching in the eastern part of the State. Dr. Alston is a large a1 1 successful farmer of Sumter county. After a wedding dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Alston left for their home at Hagood. Miss Ruth Altman of this city and Mr. L)bert -I. Roper, of Laurens, S. C., were united in marriage yesterday morning by Dr. C. W. Duke, pastor of the First Baptist Church at 10:30 o'clock. This was a beautiful wedding at the attractive suburban residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Altman, Seminole Heights. The spacious rooms were decorated in pink Russell roses, asparagus fern and palms. An altar was built in the ceremony room, this having a background of pot ted ferns and paims, trailing asparagus fern and valley tillies. An arch ex tended above the altar and from this was festooned pink tulle garlands reaching to the large double windows 'at the rear. Large jardinieres of the Russel roses were placed on pedestals at each side of the altar. The stair way rail in the reception hall was en twined with ferns and a large vase of roses on the newel post. The dining 'room wear also very dainty with roses and ferns, carrying out the same color combination.
