on several phases of German industry
are contained in reports from tile
American Association of Commerce
and 'T'rade, which have just reached
here from Berlin.
The German machine Industry, it is
declared, !s now in the process of a
general readjurtment, back to the pro
duction of implements of peace times
as well as war. The fact that for two
years many of the machine-producing
fapories have been concentrating on
implementr of war, in order to save
themselves from stagnation, has caus
ed the rupply of machines for all oth

The coal and coke situation, the
potash market and the linen indus
try are all favorably reviewed. The
hop crop for 1910 is shown to be way
below that for the previous year,
there having been a considerable de
crease in the cultivated area.
The number of transient visitors in
Berlin during the month of August
was shown by the hotel registers to
have reached a total of 110,152, which
was a considerable increase over pre
vious months. It is interesting to
note that of this total number only
3,611i, were foreigners, including 113
Americans. From hostile countries
