SEED IN THE MAKING.
When the Grain Is Field Dry It Should
Bo Stacked and Thrashed.

while other inars will produce a less
val1uable prdnet . Looking over the
various Paris of the tiehl before cut
ling, one 1n1y select (the parts of the
crop to be handled septrately for the
next year's seed supply. No extra
work or "fussing" will be necessary
before cutting. The felld may be cut
na a whole and shocked, but extra cnre
is necessary in setting tp shocks in the
"seed" part of the field. A twelve
bundle shock with two cap sheaves
will withstand unfavorable weather
and protect the grain.
As soon as the grain is field dry It
should he stacked and thrashed. 'The
seed grain should be put In a separate
stack, and the cap shenves should not
he allowed in wilh tihe other parts of
the shocks. They may go in with the
feed or sale grain. When thrashed the
seed grain should he stored separate
from other grain, thus keeping it tin
mixed. When thus kept separnte from
field to lin It will be ready at in1y tite
for the last analysis-the finuning mill
-hbefore sowing.
It Is not an easy matter always to
idge the ineronsed pro lit that comes
from saving seed grain in tis manner.
