keeping up with our cotton these diays

We think that the average crop in this
coninity will not be over four hales
to the plow. The farmers have been
talking about a short crop of cotton,
but they were joking--.they have the
real thing t his time. When you hear
such men as lord iPranks and others
say that we have the shortest crop
ever made in Lau1rens county. you itmay
sit up and take notice, as Ihey alas
say the biggest crop on record. Some
have plenty of corn. hay and hogs to
kill in the fail, so we will make out
in som11e way.

Miss May Madden, of Barksdale,
took charge of the Lisbon high school
this morning. Miss Madden comes
highly recommended and the patrons
made no mistake in getting her as she
is an excellent teacher, and with the
help of the ,trustees and every patron
which no doubt she will get, we look
forward to a record-breaker.

and we can't see why Laurens can't.
