Macon, August 2.-Capt. 1'dgar .1.
Spratling, -17, of Company 10, 5th regi
tuent, Georgia National Guard, was
shot and killed while under the fly
of his tent at the mess hour this noon
by Mrs. 11. C. Adams, :10, of Atlanta.
"You have ruined my home," Mirs.
Adams is said to have exclaimed as
she pulled the trigger of her pistol,
according to Lieut. A. A. Kyser, wip
was standing nearby. The bullet
entered the captain's body just
below the neck, severing the Jugular
vein. lie reeled backward and fell
over a guy rope. A second bullet that
was fired entered the captain's mouth.

nian's arm and disarmed her.
Major Wheeler, of the 2nd regiment;
Major liariold, brigade surgeon; Lieut.
Wynn, surgeon of the 2nd regitment,
and Chaplain Moore, were less than ilf
ty feet away when the shots were fired.
They rushed to the side of the wound
ed oflicer, but ('apt. Spratling was dead
when they reached hinm. The flag over
brigade headquarters was half-nasted
at 12:35 1'. M.

dence in the existence of Crocker land
and his belief that he saw it in July
1906. The admiral's statement, tel
