Mrs. James Sullivan is at Brunson for a two week's visit to her parents. Messrs Wilton and l'ugene Mitchell, of Mountville, were business visitors in the city yesterday. Little Ethelyn Peterson, dlaughter of Mr. and Mrs. 1. C. Peterson of inion, is in the city visiting relatives. .Maj. W. A. Watts made a brief trip to Columbia last week, spending Wednesday there. Miss Lillian Kibler, of Newberry, spent several days last week as the guest of Dr. and Mrs, B. F. Posey. Mrs. William Brown and little daughter, of Greenville, are the guests of Mrs, J. E. Tollison this week. Miss Sue lrittonham, of Augusta, is the guest of her friend, Miss Virginia Sullivan. Miss Eunice Carter, of Winnsboro, is visiting at the home of her relatives, Rev, and Mrs. J. L. McLin, Mrs. Ralph Jordan and children, of Bay City, Texas, are at the home of Mrs. R. L, Wolff on a week's visit. Mr. John F. Bolt, who is now living in McColl, has been visiting in the city for several days. Miss Aurelia Vance, of Jacksonville, Fla., is visiting Dr, and Mrs. G. C. Al bright. Miss Euniee Carter, of Winnsboro, is a guest at the home of Rev, and Mrs. J. L. McLin. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dial returned Sunday from Bristol, Tenn., where they have been visiting several weeks. Mr. Rhet Babb, who has been sick for several days, was on the street for a short time yesterday. Mrs. L. 0. Hiers has been very sick for several days. Yesterday there was no appreciable change in her condi tion. Mrs. Wells E. Clardy and Miss Jule Qh~ildress left Monday tinorning (fro Penrose, N. C., where they will spend several weeks. Eugene S. Blease, of .Newberry, spent the week-end in the city with his daughter, Mrs. J. R. Workman, and Mr. Workman. Mrs. J. C. Harrison, Mrs. Bland and Mrs. Williams, of Augusta, Ga., are in the city as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. G. McDaniel. Mr. G. Roy Stone, traveling auditor of the Carolina Life Insurance. Com pany of Columbia, is confined to the hospital here on account of sickness. Misses Martha and Brucie Owings have been in Abbeville for the past week as the guest of their friend, Miss Marguerite Perrin. Miss Mittie Owings has returned home after spending a while at Gray Court with her cousin, Miss Anna .Rhodes. Miss Sue Dean, operator at the Western Union office, Is taking her 'vacation this week visiting relatives in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Norris, of Ceni tral, will arrive in the city today and spend several (lays as the guests of Miss Lucia Dlarksdale. Misses lEthel and iLuiu Culbertson, of Waterloo, after visiting at the home of their friends, Misses Mary andi Sarah Reid, ,.returned home Monday. Mr.t Henry Martin, after spending several days in Kershaw as the guest of friends, returned to the city Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. Alian Palmer, of Cokesbury arrived in the city last week and have been the guests for the past several days of Dr. and Mrs. 13. F. Posey. Mr. L. E. Corbett, who lives a few miles from the city, is among the re cent automobile purchasers. lHe re ('ently bought a Studebaker "4" from Mr. Workman. Mrs. M. E. C. )uncan, passed through Newberry Thursday night on their way to Columbia to see their brother, Albert Duncan, who is in the hospital.-Nowborry Observer, Miss Emmia Dial who returned home several days ago, after pursuing a course in the University of Virginia, will leave in a few days for I lender- 1 soiville to spend some time. Mr. 0. 11. Simmons, J1r., who has been at his home confined with sick ness for the past week, is about well now and able to be up and walk over to town. Mrs. G. A. Spinks and children left Monday for Florence to join Mr. Spinks, who was recently promoted to a more lucrative position with his in surance company at that point. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Akerman, of Macon, Ga., who have been visiting Mrs. Akerman's parents at Clinton, spent the week-end in the city with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. F. Davis. Mr. W. A. Burgess, who has been employed in the Laurens Cotton Mill store for several years, has accepted a -position in the Hobbs lenderson 'Company store at Central and taken up his residence there. His wife and children left a few days ago to join him there. Misses Marguerite and Sara Dunlap, who are spending the summer at Mountville, returned home last week for a few days and brought with them as visitors, Misses Marguerite Dunlap of Palestine, Texas, Kittle Lee Whar ton, of Cross Hill and Janie Boyd Hud gens, of Mountville. Among the visitors in the city yes terday was Mr. Wash Garrett, having come down on business. This being the first time that Mr. Garrett had been to the city in some time, his friends were all very glad to see him. Miss Theresa Schayer, of Cincinnati, who has been spending the summer here in the city at the home of Mrs. S. D. Childress, left this morning for her home. Miss Schayer is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Schayer who resided here several years ago. Mr. T. J. Hunt and daughter, Miss Pauline, of Milner, Ga., arrived in the city last week as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Moore. Mr. Hunt spent only a few days and has returned, Miss Pauline still remaining in the city. Messrs Frank Armstrong, Earle and J. L. Langston, Pierce Moore and Charles Crisp motored through to An derson Sunday to see their friends there and returned the following morn ing. Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. Wallace, of Green ville, arrived in the city last week to spend several days here visiting rela tives. They were accompanied to the city by their friend, Mrs. Pearle Ligon who is a former resident of this coun ty. Mrs. J. O. C. Fleming and daughter. Mrs. F. I. Caine, went to Due West last Thursday and, after spending sev eral days there visiting relatives, re turned to the city Monday. Mr. M. IH. Harris, of Giray Court, wvas in tihe city on business Saturday. Mr. I larris has recently return'ed from Ok lahoma University where he0 pursued his studies for a medical degree. Mr. and Mrs. Albert D~ial returned Satuday from Bristol, Va., whlere they have been for thle past two weeks visit ing the latter's parents. Mrs. Joe Phinney, of Clinton, accom ianied by her two visitors, Misses Ruthl harris and Dixie Lambert, sipent a few days last week in the city with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. D). Lake. Miss Carolyn Fleming left the cily last Thursday for JLndrum where 51he is visiting friends. Miss IFrancis Smith, who for the ipast session taught school in Spartan! burg county, arrived in the city last Wednesday to spend a while as thme guest of her sister, Mrs. Hi. B. Humbert.
