American cocktail was an accident.
There are some who believe that it
was officially devised during one of
the great fetes of our early Ameri
cans, and others who credit its inven
tion to Satan.
As a matter of fact the real Ameri
can cocktail was born in Plandens
burg, Md., 80 years ago yesterday.
Many citizens of Washington, 1). t.,
and a few Southerners from this city,
too, have just returned unsteadily af
ter celebrating its birth down in the
Maryland town.
