Camp Moore, Styx, Juno 27.--There
was a general feoling among the na
tional guards today that the movement
toward a concentration camp, "som1e
where in Texas" will be begun within
the next ten days. The general staff
began to tighten up the lines and ev
ery effort is being made to rush the
necessary supplies.
The "green" boys are getting ac
customed to military rules and the
stringent work Is preventing home
sickness. Tomorrow morning the
liret regiment band and recruiting of
flcers will leave for a trip of three
days in the Piedmont counties to se
cure recruits. When the two regi
1.icnt; are ordered away two reserve
batalions will be moved into Styx.
The ollicers realize that recruiting
Is th ne0ne big problem to be solved
now and every nerve is being strained
to this cnd. A general campaign for
recruits is to be launche(l in every
county in lthe state. It is uniderstool
that tie plans for this eaml'aign will
be directed by Goverinol' Manning.

the necessary horses for the Charles
ton Light Dragoons.

.\Ir. E. 0. Anderson has in his posses
sion which was presented to .1oln W.
Arnold, a inem ber of the celebrated
'almetto regiment, who was a relative
of Mr. Anderson's. A similar medal
was presi enIedt to each suirviving", meill
her of the regiment.
The medal is slightly larger than a
silver dollar. Oin one side of it is en
graved the palmetto tree and sltto
motto with the dales 18-16-17, while on
the other is an Inscriptlon describing
the expedition to ltexico with tle imi
tiortant. hattles of Vera Cruz, Contrer
as, Clhurubusco, ('hapultepec, Garita
de lHelen and others.
John W. Arnold later entered the

teen Applicants for Survey.
Spartanburg. 'June 21.-Ileid Tull,
former city engineer for the city of
Spartanburg, was yesterday selected
to make the preliminary survey of the
proposed routes of the Carolina Rlapid
Transit. conmpany, at a meeting of the
financial committee held at the (harn
ber of Commerce. Actual work will
begit about July 5. Mr. 'full was
chosen from among fifteen applicants.
iR. P. Morgan of Union was electC(
treasurer of the finance comnlittee.
The committee met yesterday morn
ing at ten o'clock and began the work
of finding out the most suitable Per
son for t he preliminary survey. At
1 o'clock the meeting adjourned to
the Ureshiam, where the members Were
the guests of the chamber of commerce
for lunch. At 2 o'clock, the conimit
tee iet again with F. it. Knox, of the
board of corporators, present. lie was
called in consultation on the various
plhases of the bids submitted. The ses
