Mr. N. 13. Dial, of Laurens, who is al
ways actively interested in public af
fairs, writes The News and Courier
asking if something cannot be done t
make biennial sessions an issue before
the people in the legislative elections
all over the State tlii summer. It. can
be and should be.
Mr. Dial has already been doing what
he could to force the suestion to the
front. A t the State Convention last
week he introduced a resolution com
initting the Democratic party to the
support of the propostton but a ma
jority of tle committee on resol utlons
was agalnst this; although the resolu
tion came within two votes of receiv
ing a favoralble report from the com
mittee.
There i.; plenty of sentiment in fa
vo' of biennial sessions. All that is
needed is a campaign to pledge enough
members of the General Assembly to
be sure that the necessary constitu
tional amendment will be brought to
a vote. If when the campaign meet
ings are held somebody in each coun
ty will call upon the legislative can
didates to express themselves on this
subject the situation can be brought to
a head witlho t any dilliculty.
