The average daily at tendance for white pupils has been 570; for negro pupils 200. There are two school buildings for white chil dren in the city: the Laurens Mill school building and the 'ventral build ing. In the Laurens M1ill, 187 have been enrolled and an average daily at tendance of 124 maintained. In the Central building, 482 have been en rolled and an average attendance of 445 maintained. In the Central build ing there are enrolled -1 country pu pils, 40 of whom are in the high school. In both schools, thtbre are en rolled in the primary grades :300 pu pils, in the grammar grades 2.1.1 pu 1)1s, and in the high school grades 127 pupils. .l I . L. D. fluff History. During the session, the school ath letic association has made and ex pended $75.00. One hundred dollars for payment on rifles for the military company has also been made through different school activities. Through the co-operation, support, and free services of the doctors and dentists of the city, pupils of the first seven grades were offered the privi lege of medical inspection in the schools last October. Out of 54.1 pu pils enrolled in these seven grades, 520 desired and were given the physi cal examination. Two report blanks were filled for each pupil examined. One report was kept. by the school and one was sent to the pupil's par. ents. Of the 520 pupils examined, .1:30 needed to consult a physician or dent ist. The results of the medical inspce tion have been very satisfactory. Last fall each kindergarten pu pil planted a hyacinth hulb, which be came a beautiful blooming plant by 'hristmas. We had no dictionary. Now we have the building lighted upstairs and down. The at(ditoritum has been heated and all the lower floors have been oiled, Shades and curtains have been pur chased for classroomns. In addition to the library we have- liiir(hased su pple mentary reader.; for all griades, and a large dictionary and stand. We have two teachers, Misses Genie Aiken and Bessie Turner. Ebenezer School. Ebernezer is one of the few one teacher schools of Laurens county. A movement was set on foot last year to consolidate this schol wit i the Pat ton school, but. ended inl a coiplete failure.
