-ilar Springs, Dec. 27.-The school
at 'Poplar closed last Thursday even
lng, until after the holidays with somo
very good erereises by the children
and a box supper. The exercises were
free and the supper yielded the sum
of $2-1.31 to be used for the beneilt
of the school. The evening was en
joyed by all present.
Mrs. Langston and her daughters,
Misses Ella and Maud, and son,
George, visited their daughter and sis
ter, Mrs. P. S. Abrams on Christmas
day.
Mr. Elijah Bagwell has moved to his
old home, down below the church, af
ter making some improvements on the
house.
Miss Lucile Simpson who is attend
ing school at Tigersville, returned
home last Tuesday to spend the holi
days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
.as. W. Simpson.
Rev. Leonard Simpson, principal of
Tigerville high school, and his broth
er, M1r. Henry Simpson, who is study
ing law at Greenville, are spending
the holidays with their parents, 'Mr.

Miss Agnes Simpson who has been
taking music lessons at the GreenvillO
Womans College returned home Sat
urday to spend the holidays.
Mr. Warren Walker and two friends
went hunting one day last week and
killed one bird. They said if they
had had another box of shells apiece
they believed they would have got two.
Some one went into the seed house
at Pitts and Wood's gin one night last
week and took about a ton of cotton
seed. We don't know whether they
have been able to find the perpetrator
or not, but hope he or they will be
caught and punished. We have heard
of others in this community losing
cotton seed, but not by the wholesale.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Simmons
on the 13th inst, a girl.
