ter Having Placed Big Order for
Cars.
J. W. McKee, president of the Lau
rens Motor Car Company, returned
Monday. from Atlanta where lie had
been in attendance upon a meeting of
Haynes dealers of this territory. The
Haynes )0o1)1 acted as hosts to the
dealers and gave then a royal time
during theit stay in the city. The Lau
rons Motor Car Company has the state
agency for this car and expects to do
a large business on it.
Mr. MlcKee also looked after his
Maxwell Interests while in Atlanta. In
order to be certain of securing cars
in the spring lie placed an order for
74 cars to be delivered during Janu
ary, February and Alarch. Mlr. McKee
says that he anticipates a big busincss
in automobiles next spring and he ex
poects to be prepared with a plenty of
cars. Ile also placed an order for fif
ty Oaklands, both fours and sixes.

With present trade conditions and
prospects for Christmas brighter thana
they, have been in several years, S. AI.
& P. I. Wilkes & Company, the pro
gressive house futnishers, are lay ing
out plans to reach and sell more cis
tomers than they have ever sold be
fore. Last week and tis week the
whole force Is putting in.extra time
preparing and sending out advertising
matter all over the county. They have
combined in one circular the full page
advertisements li last week's Adver
tiser and the one appearing this week
and have sent the circular to every ru
ral route patron in Laurens county. in
this way they have reached not only
the newspaper reading public of the
county, but those who do not take the
newspaper' as well,

church on Thursday night at seven
o'clock, with preaching by the pastor,

this service there will be no prayer

There is little news of importance

Italialls, by their con tineid offensive,
are strengthening their positions
around Oirizia, which it is believed
cannot hold out much longer.
On the western front the British
and French artillery has become more
active In Flanders and Champagne
which on previous occasions has been
the signal for offensive movements.
The Russians since they regained the

attacks in the Dvinsk region. Petro
