Iexington', Sept. 21.-Declaring that
upon an "examination of tihe books of
the county oflicers it was found that
those ofilcers who are paid fees as
coinpensation for work done are paid
more In proportion to work done than
other oflicers" and recommending that
the "delegation to the legislature se
cure an amendment to the law as It
now stands, so that the judge of pro
bate, the sheriff and the clerk of court
be paid a salary as all other aflCrs,
the Lexington county grand Jury made
its final presentment of Judge Thomas
S. Sease yesterday afternoon after hav
ing been in session for three days.
The grand jury suggested thii these
oflicers be placed on a staiding sal
ary, as tollows: .udge of probate,
$6b00 per year; sheriff $2,500 per year,
