And the day for him was coi ,lete, but for the absence of his only sister, Mrs. Eugenia Teague, who is spending the s umer in Alabama with her daughter, Mrs. Irehe Langley. The speakers engaged for this occa sion failed to reach Mountville on ac count of the rain, but Col. J. H1. Whar ton gave an interesting and instructive address, which was enjoyed by all present. In the late afternoon, there was base hall. The first game between Cross Hill and Mountville. The victory was to Mountville, and our boys really en joyed whipping the Cross 1-1111 boys. The Cross 11111 girls failing to ap pear, the second game was between the girl's team and the married nen of Mountville. The game was interesting and much enjoyed by the spectators. O' course the girls won. Through the efforts of our R. S. 1. A. the school lot has been cleared of Weeds and a plot plowed for the sow ing of (lover and grass. The assocla tion is also planning to have the lot set with beautiful shade trees.
