Geo. A. Browning, Jr., of Goldville, was a business visitor in the city yesterday. Mr. J. F. Nelson and son, Dallas Nelson, of Waterloo, were visitors in the city Saturday. Mr. J. D. Sullivan, of Clemson col lege, has been spending several days in the city with relatives. Misses Sarah Dorroh and Beta Mere dith spent 'Monday in Newberry visit ing friends. Mr. John W. 'Hicks, who has made a .popular and efficient postainster for the past four years, has aliounced that he will travel in the wedt in the interest of a large school supi)ly house. JUDGE MOORE TO PRESIDE. Court of General Sessions to Convene March 8th for One Week Session. The Court of General Sessions will convene here March 8th, with Judge Ernest Moore, of Lancaster, presiding. It is understood that the court will have a heavy docket 'to contend with, including several murder trials. Born to Mr. and~ Mm's. Ci. S. Allen, a girl. MANNENG REMOVES REGENTS. Dr. Julius '1. *Taylor Resigns froin Body. Columbia, Feb. 21.-Gov. Manning sent a message to the senate early this morning announcing that he had re moved four members of the board of regents of the State Hosiital for the Insane. The action was taken under section 8, article 12, of the constitution The members removed from office are J. DaBivens, Frank R. Hunter, A. H1. Dean and .Jaimes A. Summersett. Ju llus H1. Taylor, M. D., of Columbia, re signed as a member of the board. The message was sent to the senate ime diately after the act for reorganizing the asylum hail been signed. No spe cific reason for the removal was given. The governor said that he was not ready to announce the new appoint ments. The message follows: "I have the honor to advise you that I, as governor, under authority of section 8, article 12, of the consti tution, have removed from omce Hon. A. H. Dean, Ion. J. D. Bivens, -'lon. F rank R. Hunter and Hon. J. A. Sum mersett, regents of the State Hospital for the Insane, subject to your con firmation. "I also have the honor to Inform your honorable body that Dr. Julius -1. Taylor has tendered his resignation as regent of the etate Hospital for the Insane and that it has been duly accepted."
