Tell-oird Boyd of Waterloo, was killed a result of a Supposed accidental nt Crcnmood about noon Christmas day. The body was carried to Waterloo Saturday afternoon for burial, being accompanied by friends and relatives. The deceased had lived in Waterloo at different Intervals lr Ing his life but of recent years had not spent much time there. An ac count of the tragedy, as it appeared lin the Greenwood Daily Journal, is as follows: "Will Hlughes, aged ab)out -t0, a for ier resident of this city who return ed about two months ago, was shot and instantly killed Friday after noon about 12.30 o'clock in Mr. Joe L. Maxwell's meat market by E d Beale, an employe of the market. The shooting occurred in the pres ence of two witncssts, both of whom, in their testimony at the coroner's inquest, seemed to think that Hughes lost his life by the accidental dis charge of the weapon. "'I wouldn't have done it for a mil lion dollars," is one of the statements made by Beale. And "Chiney, you know it was done accidentally," is anotheri he exclaimed when N. G. Goldman ran to the telephone to call for a doctor. After being placed in i:0il leale continued to say that the looting was purely an acicdent and ''o wouldn't have taken the life of iuighes for the world.
