Clary will be pained to learn that she is still very ill. Ray, .were arrested in the city Sat u rday by Sheriff Owings, the former on the charge of interfering with an oflicer' in the udischarge of his duty, and the latter for carrying concealed wvea pons. They were arrested in'tihe mnag istrate's oflice .here while in the act of swearing out warrants against cer' tain ncgr'oes for violatlon of contract. The case against Mr. Boozer, it is al leged, was the reSult of his refusal to make a satisfactory settlement for a mule which he had bought on trial in Newberry. When the officers of the law went to his house to serve claim and delivery papers to -secure the mule, it is stated that Mr. flooser so cured ai rifle and ordered negroes on the place to refase to show the mule to the omfiers. No arrest was mae then, but were made Saturday when the two came to Lauren.. Following their arrest hero, both men gave bond for the appearance at the next term of court when their caSes will come up for trial. Mr. Boozer is an extensive planter in the lower section of the county and owns considerable p)roperty. Last summer he was a candidate for the House of Representatives and let It be known after the election that lie wouldi run again in 1916. lHe has come in confiet with the law on several re cent occasions, notably last January when ho "shot up" Goldville.
