The time for 'colonizatiol is probably
past and as the years go by, become
more and more unlikely of accomplish
nut. Segregation by law is now being
givoin serious consideration and has al
ready been put into partial practice in
one of the cities of the South. The
constitutionality of it is soon to be de
cided in the supreme court in a case
coming ipl from Louisville, Ky. 10veni
though legal segregatlin is not ae
couplished, the wisdom or which in
rural communities we doubt, it is fast
coming about through the force of
racial differences. The whites are
iimoving away from the blacks, where
the latter tire purchasing hand in large
numbers and the blacks are fast tak
ing possession of soie localities.
The qinestion is one of great propor
tionis. But legislating a few dozen
white teachers out of negro schools
dtoes not touch the larger phases of the
problem. Such agitation affects tihe
iin 1ior phases a11d maiikes the large'r
qiuestion hairder of solution.
