Madden, June 30.--T-he drouth was
broken through here by one or the
worst electrical storms that has visit
ed this community in years, on 'T'hurs
day night. It was at its height just
at 12 o'clock at night and I venture
there was more than one that wias
scared? Oh! no, but all had a "pecu
liar feeling." It reminded mile of a
storm that occurred in my childhood.
Grandpa Langston was with us that
night. He was sleeping i) stairs but
when the wind began to blow and
lightning flash he came below. My
father laughed at him the next morn
iim saying, "'Squire,. I thought you
were a pretty good soldier." "Well
William," he replied, "I never fight
tile elements."
tlan feels helpless when a Higher
Power speaks. While the sublime io
ment was with us, when the lightning
Ilashied an(] poped and the thunder
roared I thought of tihe words thui
dered to Mloses centuries ago "I aml
God 'Ind bieisides tin. here Is nothi 01
it.''
I was also reminded of what Dr.
tIutziiinger said ihin lie addressed
th \ W. M. 17. at Prospect "Ladlies that.
