LOCAL AND PERSONAL MFNTION. Mr. R. L. Gray, of Gray Court, was in the city Saturday. Mr. John Jess Madden was here on business last Saturday. b J. N. Leak, mayor of Gray Court, *as in the city Monday. Mr. W. G. Martin of Waterloo was a visitor in town last Friday. Mr. Geo. C. Hopkins spent the week end with friends in Ninety Six. Mrs. William Flohr and children are visiting their old home at Newark, N. J. -Mr. Dick Fuller, of the University of S.. C., spent the week-end in the city with his parents. Mr. C. E. 'Parker, who is now sta tioned at Hendersonville, N. IC., spent the week-end in the city with Mrs. Parker. Mr. J. N. Wright left yesterday for Greenville to attend the meeting of Hnorce presbytery as a delegate from I Lisbon church. Mr. andi Mrs. It. Y. Wallace, of Greenville, spent several days this week in the city with Mrs. Wallace's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Crews. Miss Amelia Todd has returned home after an operation performed in Charleston. Her numerous friends will be delighted to know that she is convalescing Vapidly. Mr. S. 11. Hlodges of Greenwood was a visitor here yesterday. He came ov er to visit his sister Mrs. Annie Sher urd. Mrs. Sherard is reported very much better. Dr. R. 1. Hlughes has moved into the offices in the Todd building recent ly vacated by Simpson, Cooper & Babb The offices have been thoroughly over hauled and now make a very attrac tive appearance. Fred Geissler, district passenger agent of the Seaboard Air Line rail road, was in the city yesterday look ing. after the heavy passenger traflic incident to Shriner Week in Atlanta. As before stated in this paper, the Seaboard will put a special Pullman car at the disposal of the Laurens del egation, the car leaving the local pas senger station on the 'morning of May 12th. The friends and acquaintences of Miss Rebecca Dial, who is attending Converse college, will be glad to hear of the favorable attention she is re ceiving in Spartanburg as a result of her work in the Converse Dramatic club. She was selected some time ago to take a leading part in 1 he rendiltion af "The Midsummer Night's i)ream'" and her interpretation of the part has been praised very highly by those who have witnessed the rehearsals. The play is to he given on the college cam pus oin April 13th. At Shiloh School. Idle ]four Theatre Will (five Part of Friday's Proceeds to Boy Scouts. Manager A. S. Perry of the Idle Hour Theatre, the new plicture show, has announced that next Friday's proceeds will be given in part to the Boy Scouts of Laurens. An especially attractive program has been secured for the day and it is hoped that a large crowd will turn out to help such a worthy cause. Rev. C. F. Rankin. who is the head master of the local. scouts is very enthusiastic over the Laurens company and is anxious to make the movement the success that it deserves. For next Friday, the benefit day, the following pictures will he on the pro gram: "For the love of a man", a two reel Warnuner feature picture, and "Our Children". The prices will ie as us ual. Postal leceipts Show 1 ncrease. Postmaster Ilicks has lust complet ed his report to the postmaster gen eral on the year's business at this place. The receipts for the year end Ing March 31, wia ', totaled a. little less than $12,000, this being about $600 more than the total for the year pr )e vious.
